Marc Zomberg will bring back Elvis too

For anyone here that follows facebook, there’s allot of contreversy around facebook’s new design.
During one of my daily visits to the book, i learned that one of my friends joined a group called “IF 10 MILLION JOIN MARC ZOMBERG WILL BRING BACK THE OLD FACEBOOK!”. In the descrription, the group’s founder writes a follows:
Today I received a message from Marc Zomberg the founder of the greatest company and he told me to make this group he wants to know how many people really want the old facebook back, so he could bring it back.
Now we need everyone who want the old facebook back to join this group and invite everyone because he gave us only 20 days to do this.
Hurry up and invite we only have 20 days to do this.
At first I though it was just some idiot that didn’t know that facebook’s founder is Mark Zuckerberg, not Marc Zumberg. But then I noticed a few things that make mee feel this is a practical joke/social experiment.
1. Marc Zumberg is referred to as “the founder of the greatest company”. If this is a joke, not saying facebook outright adds even more value and fun to it.
2. Comments and discussions are not enabled for this group, thus stopping anyone from blowing the whistle.
3. The style of the description, like common mail froward scams, ads even more pun to it.
So what’s really amazing? So far 941,898 people joined this group, and are hoping that “Marc Zumberg” will bring back the old facebook.
Well, sorry guys, my inside information tells me that Marc Zumberg can’t bring back the old facebook, as it has been abducted by aliens and being held in the same secret place they are holding Elvis.

I don’t know why so many people are upset with the new design. I talked to Jakob the other day and told him that if he got to 10,000,000 we’d go back. You can follow the developments on my blog: http://marczomberg.com

Bahahahahahahahahaha. Looks like Jakob went to lengths to actually make a website for “Zomberg”. This kid seriously has no life. What a douche.
A couple curiosities on “Marc’s” blog:
An entry from July 15th, 2008:
Landed the Chase Deal
This happened on August 15, 2006. It was a 1 year deal, and expired August 15, 2007. So he reports a deal he landed, 1 year after it expired? That’s reasonable.
Another post, this time about the group:
IF 10 MILLION JOIN MARC ZOMBERG WILL BRING BACK THE OLD FACEBOOK! Glad Jacob spelled my name right.
Well, according to the name on your blog, he did. But you spelled his wrong. It’s JaKob.
One last one, on the side of his page:
This is just where I post little thoughts during the day.I’m a Silicon Valley entrepreneur, and am interested in bringing people together through the Internet.
Well isn’t it convenient, that the only interest that he tells us is the one that everybody already knows. Wouldn’t he talk about family, hobbies, etc?
This kid is one serious dumbass.

Plus, the fucker (Jakob) is from Germany. All he did was join the San Francisco network. Jakob Pettersson is one of the most German names ever, and it says he graduates from “Farsta gymnasium” in ’09. “Gymnasium” is basically “college” in german.

OH! One MORE thing from the blog:
“We’re letting everyone preview the new Facebook. The analytics show that 70% of them are switching back within 24 hours, but we think that is going to change once we disable the old Facebook.”
Really? I couldn’t imagine why less people would use old facebook after you CAN’T USE IT ANYMORE.

Nick, your observations are right, but you say them with a tone of anger. Personally, I think it’s rather amusing that someone was able to get almost a million people to join the stupidest group ever. Respect.

Nick, funny that you accuse this guy of having no life, when you’re putting so much time into writing 3 blog posts about him whilst pining over his wording…hmm…
Also, your “analysis” is pretty stupid. First, why do you think Marc Zuckerberg wouldn’t list “bringing people together” as his interest, and in the context of facebook, his only interest? It makes it appear like he’s genuinely interested in doing that, and not making easy money from facebook ads on a big shitty website for narcissists.
Second, gymnasium refers to pre-university schools in probably most European countries.
Third, Farsta is a suburb of Stockholm.
Fourth, Petterson is not one of the most German names ever. It’s Swedish.
Anyway, I do agree that people are extremely gullible when it comes to joining these facebook groups that aim for some amount of membership. A newbie may be fooled, since he hasn’t yet gotten a feel for this “Facebook” shenanigans, but old timers who were born in the mid-80s or later? Hmmm.
